Jason and Charity Funk

Suriname

Their Story:

Jason and Charity joined ABWE at the beginning of 2020, finally realizing their dream of stepping into the world of full-time missionary service. They have 6 children and took the family to serve for a year in Togo, Africa in Hospital Maintenance, Aviation, MK education, and Evangelism & Discipleship among the beloved Togolese.

Ministry Focus:

Currently, the Funks are in the final stages of training to begin their first 4-year term working with ABWE's Open Initiative to reach the many Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist people groups living in the Caribbean country of Suriname, South America.

With the ministry focus of reaching these specific unreached/unengaged people groups, it is an ideal location in which to serve as these communities- usually found in closed countries-have virtually come right to America’s doorstep!

The Vision:

Their vision is to use the religious freedom of the Americas- coupled with the spiritual heritage of existing Caribbean churches-to promote and propel the gospel among local Hindu, Muslim, & Buddhist people groups by use of mentorship & cross-cultural education: simply laboring alongside our national brothers and sisters in evangelism! While living in Paramaribo, the capital city, Jason, Charity, and their 3 youngest children will be joining another ABWE family already on the ground. (They have kids too!)

ABWEGO AVIATION:

As an ABWE pilot and aviation mechanic, Jason has the exciting opportunity to serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) Suriname as they provide transportation and encouragement to missionaries working with the indigenous tribes in the Amazon Rainforest region. Much effective work is being done by faithful laborers, and they anticipate using their skills to serve with MAF.

May God's invitation of reconciliation to the people of Suriname-representing various cultures and difficult-to-reach religious groups-increase and prosper in our time!

" Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.                                                                        - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
