Tony and Keira Hawkins

Japan

Since he was a young adult, Tony has had a passion for missions. As an emergency medicine physician, he carries a compassionate heart, especially for young adults navigating life's challenges. Keira's journey to missions unfolded more gradually, yet her love for the Japanese people and their rich culture has been rooted deeply in her since childhood. With her background in psychology and a desire to counsel, she brings empathy and insight to those who are hurting.

Together, the Hawkins family feels urgently compelled to shine as salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16) in a spiritually parched land. Through authentic, Christ-centered hospitality they desire to open their home and lives to build real relationships that point people to Jesus.

In their local Japanese community, the Hawkins family will invest in gospel-driven relationships and develop simple, reproducible methods for making disciples that will equip believers to multiply and carry the hope of Christ forward.

Japan remains one of the world's largest unreached nations. With a population of approximately 123 million, less than 0.5% know Jesus as Savior—leaving over 120 million people without the life-transforming hope of the gospel. Tragically, suicide continues as a leading cause of death among young adults and working-age people, reflecting profound despair beneath the surface of a highly advanced society. The existing church in Japan is aging rapidly, with many congregations small and few young leaders rising to carry the torch. The need is critical. The darkness is real. Yet the light of Christ still shines.
