In Luke 14 we have the story of the Great Banquet. In it Jesus tells about the master who wants to have a full banquet hall and commands his servant to “Go.” “So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭14‬:‭23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Cities and large churches receive a lot of attention. Fewer ministries prioritize going out into the backroads, evangelizing, multiplying disciples, church-planting and establishing outposts of light in easily forgotten places. God is calling to this ministry to help churches and mobilize disciples to reach the backroads, fulfilling the Great Commission in forgotten places on the backroads of the world.

The Ministry

To plant and strengthen rural churches in small places on backroads so that God’s glory will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14).

“You can’t serve what you don’t see” (Steven Witmer).  Mobilizing, supporting and serving rural ministries and churches with a heart for plant churches, to multiply and evangelize in forgotten places. Every town, even places like Gross, Nebraska (perhaps especially Gross) population 2, needs a place of light. For God’s glory seek to share the gospel with forgotten people in forgotten places. Jesus loves small places along the backroads. Even though God knows backroads ministry can be hard and lonely, He goes there and He sends His followers, too.

Churches and ministries need mobilized, and resourced especially those with a heart for forgotten places, and small places. We will work to mobilize, equip, and identify the called in student ministries at universities, and colleges in flyover country. My burden is to develop disciples, enlist and train evangelism, train mobilizers, supporting local churches with a vision for church planting and establishing places of light and sending missionaries to the BACKROADS. Catalyzing church plants, partnerships for missionaries and mission movement will need partners who will help develop disciple making ministries, to support the vision, and put together short term teams all to accomplish the goal of reaching the nations in forgotten places on the backroads.
