Santiago Christian Academy (SCA) is a private Christian school, founded by ABWE in 1968 with the goal of providing a Christ-centered, English education of high standards for the missionary families of ABWE who are located in Santiago, Chile.
In the initial years, the parents themselves were the teachers. In 1971, with the arrival of two licensed school teachers, the academy became better equipped to expand its services to other English speaking families living in Santiago. For many years, the school provided an education for students in 1st-8th grades. In the early 1980s, the education was extended to include secondary school as needed. The first high school senior graduated in 1985.
Today, SCA includes students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade and includes students from many different countries.
In 2022, ABWE transitioned the school over to Chilean leadership whose desire is to continue to provide Christian, English education. While the school still ministers to missionary kids and other ex-pat children, it now also has a strong ESL component as it seeks to minister to Chilean students as well, especially ones from our partnering churches. It is led by a Chilean school board which includes a member of the ABWE Chile Field Team. The School Board is responsible for establishing school policy and for the direction, program, and operation of the school.
SCA still desires to use short-term and career missionaries as teachers, and maintains its partnering relationship with ABWE in Chile. Please contact ABWE if you have interest in ministering at SCA, or in contributing to our SCA scholarship fund, which allows us to help provide a Christian education to families in need.
