The rapid growth in internet connectivity and technological innovation has brought children around the world increased opportunities for educational and social development. This has also made them vulnerable to online sexual exploitation. In recent years, the Philippines has become the world leader in Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). OSAEC is defined as "the production, for the purpose of online publication or transmission, of visual depictions (e.g. photos, videos, live streaming) of the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor for a third party who is not in the physical presence of the victim, in exchange for compensation."
In other words, men from around the world connect with caregivers in the Philippines, paying them to direct the children to perform acts that are livestreamed and recorded. The International Justice Mission (IJM) estimates that in 2022, nearly half a million Filipino children, or roughly 1 in 100 children, were trafficked to produce child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) for profit. For more information about OSAEC, please see https://osec.ijm.org.
For the children who are victims of OSAEC, there is a great need to provide a safe refuge for boys. Most current shelters are geared toward helping girl victims, often this leads to additional trauma when brothers and sisters are separated. Because of this, the Lost and Found Farm would like to provide a safe shelter for male victims and their female siblings. Set in a rural and peaceful setting, Lost and Found Farm aims to provide a safe refuge using a house-parent model. Lost and Found Farm will use trauma-informed care to provide a place where these children can learn of their value in God's eyes and how to live out that value in a fallen world.
Your financial support will help with the purchase of land and construction of this facility. In the future, your financial gifts will be used for the ongoing ministry of helping these children.
