Phil and Jan were saved at a young age. They were married in college, have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. They were called by God into missions in their late 40's and love serving and ministering to the people in Papua New Guinea.
Phil and Jan Smith have served in Papua New Guinea since 2016. They are educators at the Goroka Baptist Bible College, church planters, AWANA trainers, and serve to evanglize the lost and disciple believers.
Each week they, along with some of the college students, teach 9th and 10th graders about God in the local public high school. Jan also started and teaches a Literacy class where Papua New Guineans learn to read and write with the primary focus of being able to read the Pidgin Bible for themselves.
Whatever ministries Phil and Jan are involved in in Papua New Guinea, although the challenges are many, they know they are right where God wants them to be. Prayer is the most important way others can help. Giving finanicially is another way people can help as Phil and Jan desire to continue to teach more churches about the AWANA ministries and teach Papua New Guineans to read and write.
