My name is Nancy Wolf. I am a Part-time Associate with ABWE serving missionaries throughout the world in two primary areas. After serving 25 years with my husband, Tom, in Africa, and parts of the Middle East and South Asia, we are now located stateside. While helping Tom in his pastoral ministry, I have continued as a missionary part-time using my certification as a biblical counselor to provide member care and my certification as a practitioner for Intercultual Agility Training to prepare new and current workers to navigate living and being effective in cross-cultural ministry.
Living and serving in a land that is not your passport country presents unique challenges and requires specialized preparation in order to increase longevity, effectiveness, and successful relationships. This is also true for ministry workers in the states who serve in multi-cultural ministries and diverse communities. Enhancing ones self-awareness and understanding other cultural worldviews is important for navigating cross-cultural relationships and building strong and effective teams. Becoming more agile in cross-cultural relationships helps us love others well, even when the lens through which we see the world differs. A deeper understanding of intercultural worldviews enhances the light we shine and the love of Christ we desire to share.
There are times in a believer's life when biblical counseling is necessary and helpful. Missionaries have unique challenges and situations. Someone familiar and with similar experiences can provide a deeper understanding and listening ear. While some desire secular or Christian counseling, others desire and are served well by someone with a biblical counseling approach. However, certified biblical counselors with cross-cultural experience and who are available to provide this type of counseling for missionaries are few and far between. The need is great and many churches who support missionaries look for this type of counseling when seeking care for those they send.
Supporting my ministry enables me to train others in Intercultural Intelligence and Agility, both stateside and abroad. It also allows me to go to where teams of missionaries are, to provide training, counseling, and member care on the field, rather than waiting for an individual or couple to return to the states. From experience, many don't reach out for the help they need until serious intervention is needed. My desire is to provide accessible and helpful training and missionary care, both in-person and virtually. Your donations make this possible.
