Harry and Jan served first as medical missionaries in The Gambia, West Africa for a decade, and then worked for over 2 decades in opening new unreached fields. This ministry has led them to live and minister on 4 continents, working directly in ministry and leadership. They have worked exclusively with Muslims in their 34+ years with ABWE and started 4 new Muslim fields.
They last served as Executive Director of South Asia, an area containing over one third of the world’s Muslims. In addition to their ministry as Executive Director, Harry served as the Leader of the Open Initiative (ABWE's major outreach in unreached countries), and Jan led the Leadership Development Initiative.
Over their years of ministry they have been passionate in opening new works, developing national partnerships, training in Muslim evangelism, participating in theological education, and working to improve leadership development at ABWE.
Harry has been on the Board of UDG (a Bible College and University in Chisinau, Moldova) since 2011, and both Jan and Harry have taught numerous courses there. UDG has developed as one of the largest educators of former Muslims (MBB: Muslim Background Believer), and UDG has graduated more than 750 Central Asian students who are now living and ministering back in their countries of origin in Central Asia.
In retirement, the Geberts will remain active in strategic leadership at the Board level, as well as training national pastors. Funds given will now serve to enable ministry with UDG.
Please let the Geberts know if you don't already get their newsletter.
