Ukraine Crisis Fund

Ukraine

The Ukraine Crisis Fund provides aid to Ukrainians and supports gospel centered outreach ministries led by ABWE missionaries and their national partners.

The missionaries on the ABWE Ukraine team (living in both Kyiv and Odesa) have all returned to serving in person alongside their national partners and are actively engaged in meeting the many needs around them. Being in country, they see and visit the churches, cities, and towns where the Ukraine Crisis Fund is impacting hearts and lives.

The war has cruelly deprived millions of Ukrainians of their homes, their livelihoods, and their peace. Yet, amid the violence and destruction of war, the church has risen up to compassionately serve hurting people in Jesus’ name and share the gospel in a time of great need.

From the first day of the invasion, ABWE missionaries leaned into the relationships already established with their national partners (especially in the western border countries of Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland) and worked together to transport, house, feed, and minister to the spiritual needs of tens of thousands who were fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Our missionaries joined with partner churches throughout Europe (western border countries and beyond) to distribute more than 60,000 meals and other forms of aid to refugees. More than 25,000 refugees received some sort of assistance from ABWE and its partners. Thousands heard a clear presentation of the gospel, and more than 3,500 Bibles and tracts were distributed among the sheltering refugees.

Although the situation in Ukraine remains unstable and there are constant air attacks and frequent power outages, ABWE missionaries continue to serve alongside the people they love, providing aid throughout the country, including frontline towns in the east and the south.

Through a partnership with the Christian Medical Association, ABWE has helped to provide 1,400 pounds of medicine and medical supplies to Ukrainians in need as a result of the war.

Dedicated Ukrainian chaplains are ministering to soldiers and their families. Their work involves significant travel along the front lines where they provide spiritual support, comfort the grieving, and distribute much-needed aid.

In Kyiv, God’s Design Church has completely restructured their ministries to reach internally displaced people. As a result, the church has tripled in size, their leadership staff (pastors and deacons) has grown, more than 50 baptisms have taken place, and many unsaved people continue to attend regularly.

As the war continues, the demands placed on Ukrainians continue to increase. Supporting the Ukraine Crisis Fund will ensure that gospel centered ministries can continue to meet people’s physical and spiritual needs.
