Chad and Rachel Strong have been serving in the country of Nicaragua since 2019. They came out of a life of darkness later in life and are passionate about sharing the hope of Jesus, that drastically changed their lives, with others. They have nine children, eight who are adopted from the NY State Foster Care System. Four of their younger children serve with them in Nicaragua.
The Ministry
In January 2021 Chad and Rachel cast a vision for the ministry of Protege (Pro-tay-hay, meaning to protect in Spanish). What started as a small supportive ministry partnering with 2 national pastors, has expanded to include 40 pastors and over 700 students.
This ministry serves national pastors, their leadership team and the members of their communites from ages 12 to 25. Protege offers discipleship material for all students and quarterly leadership training events for the church leaders and two or three of their youth students that they desire to develop into leaders in the church. The heart of this ministry is evangelism, discipleship and leadership development.
From the start, the influence of the gospel has been evident, and the Lord has continued to bless the work of the national partners. Encouragement has been abundant through the witness of salvations, baptisms and beautiful stories of hearts and lives that have been changed by the power of the gospel.
How To Get Involved
Without the financial and prayer assistance of the Body of Christ in the Western church the ministry of Protege would not exist. The desire is to facilitate opportunity in which to bond the Western church with the Majority World Church in relationship in an effort to spur one another in the work of the Lord, to share resources and to move forward into all the world as One Body.
