Indian Diaspora w/ Mark and Shoni (Philippines)

Philippines

Leaders of this project have a vision to reach the unreached with the gospel of Jesus, make disciples, and plant churches in every barangay of the Philippines where Indian people live. They focus on the Indian diaspora, specifically Sikh and Punjabi people who have migrated to the Philippines for business and opportunities.  This couple also ministers to an unreached people group from India that has moved to the Metro Manila region and throughout the Philippine islands.

The Leaders: Mark and Shoni

Mark’s father was saved from a Hindu background where he was supposed to become a priest. His decision to follow Christ and to become a pastor led the family into a life of poverty and persecution in northern India. Mark determined to be a businessman, but God intervened and led him and each of his brothers into ministry. God provided strength and provision to earn a college and seminary degree.

Mark met his wife Shoni, from a different nation and people, during seminary in South Korea.

Shoni also grew up in a Christian pastor’s home in a South Asian nation. Although the danger to share faith in Christ was high, Shoni and her family led an exemplary life, allowing them to share their testimony in the community and work. She completed a Bible degree in the Philippines and another degree in South Korea, where, as an answer to her prayers for a husband pastor, she met Mark.

Mark and Shoni were attracted to each other by their shared vision to serve Christ among their people. God placed them in Metro Manila, Philippines, among throngs of needy people from their home countries.
